HAMNET - Dead Centre
Emerson Paramount Center
Robert J. Orchard Stage
559 Washington St., Boston
September 20 - October 7, 2018
William Shakespeare had one son: Hamnet, who died at age eleven before he got to know his famous father. In this riveting tour-de-force of literary imagination, Shakespeare's only son finally takes center stage. Created by Dead Centre Theatre Company in Dublin, Hamnet is a moving, meticulous, multimedia show that explores how ambition clashes with family responsibilities in a way that rivals Shakespearean tragedy itself.
This U.S. Premiere of Hamnet at ArtsEmerson is a final chance to see young Irish actor Ollie West perform as the 11 year old lead character. West performs September 20-30 after which we'll welcome the talented Aran Murphy to take over the role for the final four performances October 3-7.
